Volkswagen Fox

This is the cheapest new VW in recent memory; a roomy, fun-to-drive city runabout that should appeal to a wide range of buyers. It replaces Volkswagen's Lupo, but is cheaper and considerably larger. It may lack the charm and personality of rivals like the Fiat Panda and Toyota Aygo, but it makes up for it with a versatile and comfortable interior and solid build quality. Just a handful of engines and trims are available, making the range simple and easy to understand.

Standard Fox models have ABS, dual front airbags, height-adjustable front head restraints, rear head restraints, four three-point seat belts, Isofix child seat anchor points, driver’s seat height adjustment, height and reach adjustable steering wheel, speed sensitive power-assisted steering, radio/CD player with six speakers, rear bench seat and storage compartment under the driver’s seat. Urban Fox is the top trim and adds body-coloured bumpers and door mirrors, 'easy entry’ sliding front seats for access to the rear, front electric windows, manual rear vent windows, remote central locking, 50:50 split/folding rear seat.
