Subaru Impreza

This new Impreza sticks to what the model's been doing since 1993: bringing power to the people. You get supercar thrills for high street prices; few cars can match the bangs-per-buck. And bangs in the new model are bigger than ever: all engines have a power increase, 0-60mph times have come down and there's sharper acceleration on the top STi. But the most obvious changes are visual: a new front and rear end treatment gives Impreza a more distinctive look and there are high intensity headlamps and 3-D rear lights. The Spec D version tones down the visual aggression slightly while still delivering the maximum Impreza driving experience.

R, SPORT, WRX, SL, STI

2.0R Sport has ABS with electronic brakeforce distribution, dual front airbags, side airbags, colour coded bumpers, remote central locking, alarm and immobiliser, air conditioning, adjustable driver's seat, front bucket seats, front fog lights, 16-inch aluminium alloy wheels, heated electric door mirrors, xenon headlights, pop-up headlamp washers, CD player, and outside temperature gauge. 2.5 WRX adds a rear limited slip differential, 17-inch gunmetal alloy wheels, an aluminium bonnet, branded red brake callipers, aluminium pedals and an interior boot release. 2.5 WRX SL gains heated front seats and leather seat and door trim. The range-topping 2.5 WRX STi Type-UK has a driver-controlled centre differential with yaw rate sensor, a tracking system, 17-inch alloy wheels, aluminium rear roof vane, high-rise rear spoiler, rear under-floor diffuser, STi-branded chrome exhaust muffler, STi-branded turbo intercooler, automatic air conditioning, speed sensitive power steering, STi bucket seats, blue suede-effect interior, STi-branded gearknob, tilt-adjustable STi-branded Momo steering wheel and a water spray for the turbo intercooler. Spec D models have the same power and performance as the STi WRX but with a smaller boot spoiler, no rear window roof vane, silver (instead of Gold) alloy wheels, extra sound deadening, black (rather than blue) interior and sat nav.
