SEAT Alhambra

Alhambra is related to both Sharan and Galaxy, although its relative lack of familiarity among British motorists is due to SEAT's less prominent brand identity. It's a sound package - after all, it's built alongside Sharan in Portugal and shares the same proven VW engines. It's just as nimble and car-like to drive as Galaxy/Sharan, with good use of the flexible interior space. If you can live without the VW badge, what tips the balance in Alhambra's favour is its value for money. New or used - you get more car for your money, and specifications are more generous, too.

V6, SPORT, T 20V, S, SX, SETDI, PD

All have a six-speed manual gearbox. S has air-conditioning, tinted glass, electric front windows, remote central locking and a stereo. SE adds front fog lamps, headlight washers, 16in alloy wheels, climate control, electric rear windows, cruise control, leather trimmed steering wheel and gear knob, on-board computer and sports suspension. Sport adds a CD autochanger and ESP traction control.
