Peugeot 207

The 207 is proof that Peugeot is still a master when it comes to small cars. It's roomy, well equipped, attractively styled and comes with strong petrol and diesel engines. At the moment, you've got the option of just a three or five-door hatchback, though an estate and coupe-convertible, with a metal folding roof, will be offered in time. With three other small hatches in the range, in the 107, 1007, 206 and now 207, Peugeot, it seems, currently has a small car for all tastes and budgets.

S, 16V, SPORT, SE, HDI, GTI

Entry-level URBAN has power steering, dual front and side airbags, five three-point seatbelts, height and reach-adjustable steering wheel, driver's seat height adjustment, radio/CD player, ABS with emergency brake assist and body coloured door mirrors. S has air conditioning , electrically-operated heated door mirrors, trip computer, curtain airbags and body-coloured door handles. SE (five door models only) adds a full-length glass sunroof with sunblind and built-in air freshener. Sport gets alloy wheels (15-inch on 1.4; 16-inch on others), chrome exhaust trim, front sports seats, front fog lights, leather steering wheel gearknob, sun-reflecting (athermic) windscreen and chrome interior door handles. Range-topping GT has an auto-dipping rear-view mirror, directional headlights, electronic stability programme, tyre pressure sensors, automatic lights and wipers, dual-zone climate control, electric rear windows, a Thatcham Category 1 alarm, aluminium pedals, 17-inch alloy wheels, leather/cloth seat trim, silver colour door handles and an aluminium gear knob.
