Mercedes-Benz S-Class

Mercedes-Benz has managed to raise the already high standards of the S-Class with the latest all-new model. Its sharper looks clothe improved ride and handling, even more comfort and space, and it pushes technological boundaries by offering gadgets to raise even James Bond's eyebrows. The S-Class didn't need radical reinvention but it now exudes a feeling of even greater accomplishment as it goes about its role. Anything powered by electric motor moves more smoothly, gearchanges occur even less perceptibly, if the traction or stability controls intervene the feeling is far more subtle. Less effort is needed to go about the business of getting from A to B in relaxed comfort. You have to wonder how the Mercedes engineers will follow this car up, for it's hard to believe there is much left for them to polish.

CDI, TURBO

There are no trim levels as found on lesser models. The S320 CDI is the baseline and features 17-inch alloy wheels, cruise control, air suspension, automatic lights and wipers, heated and electrically adjustable front seats and climate control. Long wheelbase versions can be specified at a £4000 premium. The S600L model also has Active Body Control to reduce bodyroll, ventilated and massaging front seats and keyless go (the doors unlock automatically as you approach with the key in your pocket and the engine starts at the touch of a button). As is the norm with Mercedes, there are a range of options offered at extra cost to fine tune the specification.
