Lotus Elise

The second-generation Elise resembles a mini-supercar. Fly-weight gives high performance without the need for big power. Higher spec versions now offer a bit more comfort and performance, but at a cost that becomes harder to justify since the standard model is such fun. It's sparsely spec'd, but that is the whole point. 111R now gets ABS brakes, a Toyota engine and gearbox, plus a few luxuries without compromising the performance.

Traditionally sparsely equipped - even a stereo was optional. But versions are available with extra goodies (such as digital radio/MP3 player) and these days you can even have electric windows and air-con if you have to.
