Jeep Patriot Vehicle Review and Information.
Vehicle
Jeep Patriot
Vehicle Summary
As Toyota, Land Rover and Honda have moved up-market with the RAV4, Freelander and CR-V, Jeep is aiming to fill the gap with its new, entry-level 4x4 model that is claimed to match the average family hatchback in the performance, handling, running economy and cost. Though it has four wheel drive, the cheapest model so far from the US company is described as a ‘soft-roader’ – a vehicle intended more for maintaining progress in poor conditions – as opposed to one designed specifically for tackling the more serious rough and tumble of the great outdoors. The car is roomy and comes in two trim levels, both with a good spread of equipment, but interior detailing leaves a lot to be desired and the dash panel is poor in both design and execution.

Features
Every Patriot stands on distinctive, 17-inch alloy wheels and comes with air conditioning, an air filtering system, a 12v auxiliary power outlet, keyless entry and speed-sensitive door locking. Sport versions have black roof rails and a fabric seat trim that’s specially treated to shrug off grime, while Limited models feature painted side mouldings, leather upholstery, bright-finish roof rails, tinted glass, fog lamps, cruise control and buttons placed conveniently on the back of the steering wheel to operate the audio system. Power mirrors are heated and fold flat for parking. The front centre armrest has a handy flip pocket built into its lid to conceal either a mobile phone or MP3 player and another useful novelty is the light over the rear cargo area – it’s rechargeable and can be unclipped from the headlining to double up as a flashlight.
