The ST is the long-awaited successor to the Focus RS and latest in a long line of fast Fords that stretches back decades. The concept of an affordable performance car is one that Ford has championed more than any other mainstream manufacturer. There are currently more mid-sized performance hatchbacks than ever before with particularly impressive offerings from Vauxhall and Volkswagen. But the ST makes a strong case for being the best of the lot, not least because it is offered at such a temptingly low price. ST, ST-2, ST-3

The are three trim levels offered, all mechanically identical. ST1 features 18-inch alloy wheels, Recaro seats, sporty ST body styling and a pod full of extra dials. The ST2 improves on this tally with an MP3 compatible stereo, heated front screen, xenon headlamps and a stability and traction control system. The ST3 model has ten way electrically adjustable Recaro seats, full leather trim and a six-disk autochanger.
