Fiat Sedici

Fiat has staked its claim for a share of the compact 4x4 segment with the Sedici (Italian for 16 - the sum of 4x4). A joint project with Suzuki (which builds the virtually identical Sedici alongside the Suzuki SX4 at a new Hungarian factory) the Sedici is targeting mothers with young families, and Fiat believes it will appeal because of its relatively compact dimensions along with the security of four-wheel drive and its perceived safety. Petrol engines and transmissions are courtesy of Suzuki, while the six-speed 1.9 turbo diesel is Fiat's own.

Two trim levels: Dynamic and Eleganza. Standard equipment on Dynamic includes black roof rails, 16-inch steel wheels, cloth trim, remote central locking, electric front windows, front fog lights, air conditioning, split/folding rear seat, space-saver spare wheel, four airbags and a CD/radio. Eleganza models add electric rear windows, 16-inch alloys, interior chrome trim, leather-covered steering wheel, automatic climate control and steering wheel audio controls. Options on Dynamic models include, metallic paint, alloy wheels, electric rear windows, dark tinted rear windows and an MP3 player. Options on Eleganza models include metallic paint, dark tinted rear windows, leather trim, a six-CD autochanger, Connect Nav+ satellite navigation (or turn-by-turn rather than full map) with MP3 player and electronic stability programme and curtain airbags.
