The Z4 replaces the Z3 and delivers more driving thrills, more head-turning looks and more luggage space. The Z4’s sharp design, classy looks and road-hugging stance attracts more than its fair share of admiring glances, especially with its roof down. The Z4 is a real pleasure to drive thanks to its instant spurts of speed and quick direction changes. In 2006 the Z4 had minor design changes including new headlights and rear lights, and it lost the 2.2-litre engine in favour of a new 2.5-litre engine, and received a revised 3.0-litre engine. New Sport models and a top-of-the-range Z4M were also added.

Good selection of standard equipment, with a long and not inexpensive options list. In 2006 there were even more driver aids fitted to the car including Brake Pre-tensioning, which primes the brakes if the car anticipates a potential accident situation, Brake Drying, which dries the discs by occasionally gently applying the pads and Hill Start Assist, which allows drivers of manual transmission cars to pull away smoothly on a hill.
