As a luxury machine, the A8 barely puts a foot wrong, offering satisfying performance, spacious and luxurious interiors and solid, refined build quality, but Audi's flagship model has never sold well in the UK. This may be down to the conservative styling and play-it-safe handling dynamics, but it still has plenty of gadgets to keep restless fingers amused. The car received a very minor makeover in 2005 which included Audi's new-style grille and a new 4.2-litre diesel engine to replace the 4.0-litre diesel.

You get as standard the kind of kit that's usually an option (climate control, leather seats) so the options themselves are something special - radar assisted cruise control, remote engine start/stop and a button that opens your garage door (no joke).
