Alfa Romeo Spider

It's been around since '96 but still manages to turn heads, such is the irresistibility of its looks. It also comes with a cracking range of engines which add up to a typically Italian exercise in motoring passion. Great to look at and great, to listen to and a pleasure to use. However there are areas where it's not all rosy and the Spider feels underdeveloped. Practicality is not a strong point, its more suited to cruising and the roof needs a bit of faffing about with to erect.

Turismo, Lusso, V6, TS, JTS

Original cars had 15-inch alloy wheels, electric mirrors and a stereo. The optional Lusso pack added leather upholstery and 16-inch alloys. A mild facelift in July 2003 saw Lusso become the standard trim with Power steering, electric front windows and MOMO leather upholstery. A CD multichanger, sat-nav and electric seats are optional.
